to help us get to the needed levels. the increases that we are looking at are largely associated with the labor and negotiations that took place last year and the contracts that are in place for the next couple of years. so those are going to increase our salary and fringe benefit cost to a certain degree and we know last year at this time we discussed reducing the city order and we brought it down to $180,000 to $130,000 and we talked about reducing it further going forward to $120,000. at this point i am not going to recommend that we any lower than we are now. we had a work order with the city attorney for the last five years and the utilization has fluctuated over the last five years and that has depended on a lot of factors and it has to do with the caseload and the volume of the cases and the length of board meetings and the hours that the city attorney has to sit with us and the complexity and uniqueness of the cases and the number of new board members that come on and increase of on boarding those members and also changes in the deputies that we see. so, it seems to me th

[ applause ] there are some great old photos from right after the 1906 earthquake, and fire. one of them shows a line of people going right up the street here, on golden

, they see our work process, our discussions, the decisions we make. it is good for us. we kind of behavior little bit when we have people in the audience. msk (music) >> we are rehearsing for our most expensive tour; plus two concerts here. we are proud that the growth of the orchestra, and how it is expanded and it is being accepted. my ambition when i came on as music director here -- it was evident we needed absolutely excellent work. also evident to me that i thought everyone should know that. this was my purpose. and after we opened, which was a spectacular opening concert about five weeks after that the economy completely crashed. my plan -- and i'm absolutely dogmatic about my plans --were delayed slightly. i would say that in this very difficult timefor the arts and everyone, especially the arts, it's phenomenal how new century has grown where many unfortunate organizations have stopped. during this period we got ourselves on national radio presence; we started touring, releasing cds, a dvd. we continue to tour. reputation grows and grows and grows and it has never stopped going f

to join us as well. oftentimes we can learn from each other what are the better practices and what this coordination means in this day and age. it isn't just talking through but identifying the gaps that exist. and for our youth those gaps could be literally life dependent. and whether it's mental services. whether it's education. whether it's getting a referral to a job. or counseling. whether it's just those two days getting out of either incarceration or something to do with our criminal justice system. we have to pay more attention to the whole level of existence. and i want to thank all of the agency heads for coming here together. this is my understanding, the first time we have asked everybody to come together and to share what you are doing. as good as they might be, as great as they might be. that we still have gaps. and i would be the first to admit it in our city. while we are probably exhibiting of the most successful things we are doing. whether it's 5,000 more summer jobs. we will do more of that. and whether it's getting an exciting grant from the department of labor

. so, this allowed us to not only put on a great sell braaetionverctiontion, but to also fundamentally change the experience that the 10 million visitors a year who come to the golden gate bridge have. if you've been out there, we've built a 3500 square foot pavilion. it's a visitors pavilion and welcoming center. there are interpretive panels and photographs and videos that you can see there and merchandise that tell you a lot about the golden gate bridge. and we have some artifacts in that pavilion that have never been seen before by the public. so people now can actually get a sense of their rich history of the golden gate bridge and how it was built and the men and women in labor who built that bridge. and, so, it's really fantastic. we also improve the outdoor plaza area so there's more open space. we improve the pedestrian and bicycle path. so, really it's a much more pleasant place to visit now so we're really, really proud of that. on the fiscal side of things at the district, it has been a difficult time, as with any governmental quasi-governmental agency. but in 2009 the boar

and the establishment was in district six during a redistricting process, they swiped us away and so any way, i want to point out that we did write a letter of support, but i also want to point out that they did no out reach. so, if you are shaming everybody for not doing the out reach, it starts here too. when they posted it was not clear, if it was st francis hotel or if it was st francis hotel asking for a liquor license or a different entity, it was not until we get the packet for this meeting that we realized that it is actually an entity that has because they did not do the out reach to the community. and so we thought that it was the hotel opening up a bar, under its name. and in reality, it is a chain of bars that are opening up and they want to open up at this location. and we do agree with the conditions that are set out by the police department. but, again p the issue of out reach, i think that it should be pointed out that you know, these applicants need to do the community out reach so that everybody, and just assume that there is no organizations or no residents and all of that, well t

to be able to better manage their health condition using exercise programs that have been proven to be effective and there's another program called healthier living which is stanford -- developed by stanford and a six week program, these are the programs that i oversee and work with the staff as well as providers in the community to offer these programs and we are -- and i'm really pleased and happy to be reconsidered and nominated to serve on the food security task force. as you may know, there's still a lot of unmet needs with the city with regard to providing meals to low-income seniors as well as adults with disabilities and being on the task force offers me opportunities to network with other groups, whether they are city government departments or non-profit organizations to be able to do our job a little bit better and think of ways that we can be more innovative and at the same time offer services more cost effectively. >> thank you, any questions of ms. lau? seeing none, thank you. and you're a resident of san francisco? >> yes. >> thank you. next, maria leclair. >> good
